Facing criminal charges

Facing criminal charges in the New Mexico criminal justice system is very serious. New Mexico has a reputation for being intolerant of people who find themselves caught up in the court system. Because of this it is extremely important that you have an aggressive and experienced legal team to defend your rights.

In New Mexico there are two types of criminal charges:

Felony charges are crimes that carry significant sentences and the real possibility of having to serve jail time, pay large fines, and the loss of some constitutional rights. Felony convictions may follow a person for life after the case is complete. Therefore, it is important to take felony charges seriously. Felonies involve dangerous weapons, infliction of serious injury or death, high amounts of property damage, or possession of certain types of drugs, etc. For  other Law Services Family Law, Personal Injury

Misdemeanor charges
Misdemeanor charges are less severe than felonies. However, they can also have serious effects on an individual’s life. On top of a possible six months in the county jail, fines, fees, and probation requirements, a person could face problems passing background checks for new jobs, or keeping firearms while the probation period is in effect.
